What is it?

Paediatric dermatology covers conditions of the skin, hair and nails from infancy through adolescence.

Expand to learn more

A child's skin differs from adult skin, so symptoms and treatment must be considered in the context of age and development.

We consult on atopic dermatitis, rashes, infections, warts, moles and teenage acne, among other concerns.

The doctor speaks with the caregiver, examines the child comfortably and explains how to use any medicines.

Practical advice on skin care, itch relief and prevention of recurrence is an important part of the visit.

Frequently asked questions

Can a baby see a dermatologist?

Yes. Dermatologists assess skin problems in newborns and babies and select age-appropriate care.

Should I photograph a rash?

This is very helpful if lesions fade or change before the appointment. A photograph does not replace examination but supports the history.

Must a parent attend?

A minor should attend with a legal representative or appropriately authorised caregiver who can provide information and the required consent.
